Product Sourcing & Supply - Product Import Management
In 2000, a project was identified to source, and secure supply of a large quantity of electrical conduit from outside the UK markets. This had the duel effect of lowering the cost base whilst enabling the UK wholesale distributor to leverage commercial pressure on a virtual monopoly in the UK market.
Products were reviewed from a number of far-eastern suppliers, a suitable BS graded product located, and an import-export process initiated. This had the effect of breaking the monopoly and secured cost savings in excess of 36% for the product going forward.
